The Stations of The Cross
The large frames, carved in wood and gilded in gold by Antonio Agius were done in the first part of the twentieth century. On the other hand, the paintings depicting scenes from the Way of the Cross were completed during the period 1791-1796. Of interest is the fact that while stations I, II, XIII and XIV were painted by Antonio Scerri (active in the eighteenth century), the remaining ten were the work of Rocco Buhagiar (1715-1805).
