The Washer Woman

Clothes needed a wash each time they got dirty. While some washed them at home, there were also persons who provided this service. Large zinc or iron tubs, chunky washing soap, bluing cubes for whites, and other cleansing apparatus, made the washer woman achieve more satisfactory results.
