The Two Niches, One On Each Side Of The Main Entrance To The Basilica

The Titular Statue Of The Assumption

Looking at the door, on the right, there is the niche with the titular statue of the Assumption. The original statue was done in 1868 but was modified by sculptor Vincent Apap in 1948. Every year, on 15 August, the feast day of the Assumption, this statue is carried on the shoulder during a solemn procession around the streets of Mosta amid great celebration.

The Statue Of Our Lady Of The Rosary

On the left of the main door, one notes the niche with the statue of the Madonna and Child holding the Holy Rosary. This baroque statue was done by sculptor Pietro Paulo Zahra in 1742.
