Clothes are important for many reasons: to cover the body from the elements, to look smart on special occasions, to provide uniforms, utility clothes, and such like. The seamstress and tailor are the person to go to when such clothing needs arise. The sewing machine, needles, pins and thread are the basic tools to make new clothes or to mend older ones.
