The Paschal Candle is a large candle lit during Easter celebrations in Christianity. Its flame represents Christ as a symbol of light, hope and new life.

You have reached the final stage of this experience – from the hourglass, marking the passing of time, to this flame, symbolising continuity and hope.

A flame loses nothing by lighting another.

It simply allows another light to begin.

Think of those whose kindness, wisdom or love illuminated your own life.

Then ask yourself:

What light might you leave for others?  

Perhaps this is what Ars Moriendi has always invited us to discover:

that by reflecting on life’s ending, we learn to live with greater purpose today.
